Attorney Coe Baxter Settles $150,000 Police Brutality Case

by: Prince, Glover & Hayes Friday, August 4th, 2017

Coe Baxter recently settled a case involving three ABC Board employees humiliating and using unreasonable amounts of force against an innocent man. Coe’s client, a hardworking and well-known member of his community in Eutaw, Alabama, was unjustly victimized while the ABC Board attempted an undercover operation to test if our client’s grocery store would sell alcohol to a minor with an obviously false ID. Despite our client’s attempts to follow corporate procedure as well as ABC Board procedures, the three ABC officers instigated this innocent man. Despite his history of being a city councilman for Eutaw, many onlookers in the grocery store looked in horror as our client was thrown and held against the ground, charged with obstructing a governmental operation, and taken out of his store. His humiliation was further compounded while he sat in the back of a squad car, his family rightfully upset and outraged at how he was victimized. Two of the ABC officers had a history of unreasonable use of force as well as other infractions.
