Avoid Holiday Prep Hazards

-Lift Correctly: Stand close to objects, bend your knees and keep your torso straight as you lift.

-Disinfect shopping carts: They tend to be particularly germy during the winter, so carry sanitizing wipes or use free wipes provided by the stores. Also sanitize your hands after touching common surfaces.

-Take care of yourself: Stress can cause illness, so be sure to drink plenty of water, eat healthfully, schedule downtime and go to bed at a decent hour.

-Don’t go crazy with exercise: Many people are so worried about holiday weight gain that they ramp up workouts too suddenly, risking injury. Stay active but make gradual changes in intensity.

-Wear sensible shoes: Don’t go shopping in high heels. If you know you’ll be on your feet for a long time, opt for comfort.

-Don’t hang decorations alone: Whenever you climb a ladder, you should have a spotter to hold the base steady and greatly reduce the risk of a fall.
