Josh Hayes To Be Part of Historic Mock Trial in Commemoration of the 51st Anniversary of Bloody Sunday

by: Prince, Glover & Hayes Friday, March 4th, 2016

PGH Partner Josh Hayes will be in Selma, Alabama tonight as one of six lawyers participating in the annual Mock Trial.  The Mock Trial is one of over 50 events which collectively comprise the Bridge Crossing Jubilee.

On March 7, 1965, various civil rights activists and fellow strugglers for freedom were brutally beaten by Alabama State Troopers while attempting to march from Selma to Montgomery.  The march was to protest the unlawful killing of Jimmie Lee Jackson.  The outcry of the American public over the treatment of the marchers directly led to the passage of the momentous Civil Rights Act of 1965.

Each year since, Sen. Hank Sanders and his wife Faya Rose Toure have organized a commemoration of Bloody Sunday.  2016 marks the 50th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday.

Tonight’s mock trial will be held at Concordia College in Selma and will be broadcast on Sirius XM Channel 27 from 5-7pm.
