There were 41,059 deaths on the nation’s roadways in 2007.
·    24,147 involved a roadway or lane departure.
·    8,675 involved an intersection-related crash.
·    4,654 involved a pedestrian.
·    32% were speed related (13,040).
·    2% were work zone related (835).
·    Over 40,000 highway workers were injured.
