Prince, Glover & Hayes Settles Car Accident Case

Partner Josh Hayes has settled a severe car accident case. A driver struck our client while trying to turn left on a yellow light. The accident put our client in intensive care and put a huge emotional and financial strain on the entire family. They used all their savings to pay bills incurred as a result of the accident. The adverse driver had the minimum insurance policy limits allowed by law. Mr. Hayes was able to recover the full policy amount, but that still was not enough. Our client had waived Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (UIM), but Mr. Hayes found a way to get the UIM insurance on her husband’s vehicle to pay for some of her bills. However, this was still not enough. Through the hard work of Mr. Hayes and paralegal Kacie Davis, the firm eventually convinced medical providers to lower their bills. They convinced one hospital to lower their charges from $130,000 to just $3800. Mr. Hayes and the referring attorney both agreed to lower their attorney’s fees to save the client even more money. Overall, the attorneys and Ms. Davis saved the client $142,107.96.

This is another example of how important UIM coverage is. Car accidents can force families into bankruptcy. Many motorists on the road do not have enough insurance to cover expensive hospital bills, so even if the accident is not your fault you could be stuck with enormous expenses if you do not have UIM coverage. Even though it is not required by law, it is wise for everyone to have UIM coverage. Don’t get stuck with huge medical bills for an accident that isn’t your fault!
